Protest by angry youth of the APC over the appointment of a PDP chieftain, Hon. Kolade Akinjo as board member representing Ondo State at the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC which started on Wednesday in Akure, continued on thursday this week at the APC State Secretariat in Akure.
All Progressives Congress (APC) youths in Ondo state under the umbrella of the Youth Coalition Group said the protest will continue both in Akure and Abuja until Akinjo is dropped and another loyal APC member from Ilaje local government area is appointed to represent the state at the NDDC Board.
The angry youths who invaded the state secretariat of the APC in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State were with placards with different inscriptions such as Where is the party loyalty Gbajabiamila”, “NDDC slot shouldn’t be for the highest bidder”, “Akinjo is not APC member” “Reward party members, not opposition” to express their grievances over the appointment of Kolade Akinjo from the opposition party, People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Hon. Kolade Akinjo, a former member and immediate past House of Representatives representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency who spent 8 years at the green chamber and lost his third term ambition under the platform of the PDP to the APC.
In his third campaign, he worked vigorously against the APC and openly insulted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR in a video clip, described Tinubu as a sick man shaking to paralyse before the general elections.
The youths however called on President Tinubu to replace Hon. Kolade Akinjo with APC member from oil producing communities from Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State.
The leader of the group, Comrade Ojo Oluwaseyi who lamented that the APC members have been insulted with the appointment of Hon. Kolade Akinjo from the opposition party, hence posed serious threat to members’ loyalty to the party, vowed to continue the protest in Ondo State until President Tinubu does the needful and replace him (Akinjo) with APC member.
