….. Says pallaitives to Cushion fuel Subsidy removal should be distributed to the Vulnerable.
Amidst pomp and pageantry, the Olujigba of Ijigba in Akure South local government area of Ondo state, Oba (Ambassador) Luyi Rotimi has installed Chief (Mrs) Sherifat Oluwatoyin Salaudeen Akamson as Yeye Bobagunwa of Ijigba Kingdom.
At well-attended ceremony held at the palace of Olujigba on Saturday, 2nd September, 2023, the monarch described Chief Sherifat Salaudeen as a committed woman who has been contributing to the development of the community, hence the decision to honour her and other new chiefs with chieftaincy titles.
Oba Luyi said most of the chiefs were recommended by residents of the community who attested to their good services in the area.
While presenting certificates to the new chief and decorating them with traditional attires, the monarch advised the new Chiefs to assist him in running the affairs of the community, cautioning them not to engage in rebellion activities.
“We are here to complete the final ceremony of the installation of some chiefs, three traditional chiefs and six honourary chiefs to join the other three to help us administer this community.”
While addressing the chiefs during the installation and giving of certificate, the monarch urged them to be of good behaviour, “Most of you were recommended by the community, we want to be hearing more good of you, I wish you all the best in your various positions, I am sure you would deliver, I wish this community would keep bringing goodies to you as you join me in running the affairs of the community.
“You all are qualified and much are expected from you, I want you to establish a good partnership to make things work.
“Allow peace to reign, give respect to whom respect is due to, the only thing I want from the chiefs is unity, let there be peaceful co-existence.
“I admonish you all not to rebel in the palace as it is a Taboo, do things with dignity and excellence, your service would make ways for you.
The totality of what we stand for in this community is unity, peace and progress, all we are doing collectively is to achieve development in the community, the chiefs must cooperate with me and other high chiefs,” Oba Luyi said.
Olujigba also called on the government to urgently commence the distribution of palliatives to cushion fuel Subsidy removal adding that people are currently in pain.
“My greatest desire is that the Governor (Oluwarotimi Akeredolu) would be fully well and totally recover so that he can come back to continue the good work he has been doing, his time has been unique,” he said.
Speaking in an interview immediately after the chieftaincy installation, one of the new Chiefs, Chief Sherifat Oluwatoyin Salaudeen Akamson, who is the new Yeye Bobagunwa of Ijigba Kingdom, appreciated the king for counting her worthy of being honoured alongside others, vowing to perform her responsibilities diligently.
Chief Yeye Bobagunwa said, “I am happy for what has happened. Today complete our chieftaincy installation by the King, we are given our certificates of chieftaincy, we thank God for today, our king would live long and we will also, our community would continue to progress.
“My responsibility is that anytime the king is in the palace, I have to be there also, to perform many responsibilities with him, I pray that God would give me peace and riches.
“My message to the people of Ijigba is that we should all be patient and love one another, love is important for us to move forward, we beg the citizens of Ijigba to cooperate with us, without their recommendations we would not be there”.
Other newly installed chiefs include, Chief Adesolaju Ogunmode, Iyalode; Chief Samuel Arewa, Bobaselu; Chief Babatunde Julius Aruwajoye; Chief (Mrs) Aderonke Monisade Julius, Yeye Aruwajoye; Chief Caroline Ajoke Ominowa, Iyaloja; Chief Dele Arowolo, Otun Iyaloja; Chief Patrick Kain Owei, Amuludun; and Chief Omolola Afolabi Agunda, Yeye Oge of Ijigba land.
