The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one Olubodun Sanni for allegedly killing a 300level student of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Miss Adebisi Ifeoluwa Adekunle while stealing her iPhone.
Parading the suspect and three others in Akure, the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Abayomi Oladipo, said the suspect Olubodun was apprehended through the use of modern technology by tracking the stolen iPhone of the deceased.
According to the Police Commissioner, the suspect in his confessional statement, said to have stabbed the 20yr-old girl at her off-campus hostel room over the iPhone he stole from her.
The Police Boss also paraded another 20yr-old boy, Umar Ibrahim who asked one Mohammadu Adamu in Akunnu Akoko area to use his father Motorcycle to drop him at a village in Kogi State, but killed him in the process and ran away with the bike, but policemen later arrested him.
CP Oladipo who said the suspects would soon be charged to court for prosecution, vowed to work with other security chiefs in the state to tackle kidnapping cases.
“The command within few days of my arrival has had its fair share of security related challenges and my men have been able to crack some of these cases via intelligence led policing to ensure crime does not have a free day in the state.
“One of the few achievements we want to showcase is the ARREST OF A MURDER SUSPECT involved in the killing of a student of AAUA. On 2nd of February, 2024, a case of suspected Murder was reported to the Police that One Adekunle Adebisi Ifeoluwa ‘F’ aged 20yrs, a 300level student of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko was found in a pool of blood at her off campus hostel and was rushed to the university health centre and later referred to a Specialist Hospital in Ikare Akoko where she was confirmed dead.
“In the course of investigation, the police discovered that the deceased phone was missing.
“The police through the use of modern technology traced the phone to one Olubodun Sanni ‘m’ aged 21yrs, a final year student of the same school who is also a neighbour to the deceased in the hostel.
“The recovered phone led to further questioning of the suspect who gave details of what happened in his confessional statement, how he entered the deceased room, stabbed her on the chest with knife and he stole her iPhone XR.
“ARREST OF A MURDER SUSPECT
On the 2nd of January 2024, One Umar Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 20yrs asked one Mohammadu Adamu ‘m’ of Fulani Camp in Akunnu area to use his father’s Motorcycle to drop him at Ogali via Kogi State.
“While on the way at a bush part, the pillion, Umar Ibrahim matcheted Mohammadu Adamu to death and went back to Akunnu.
“The suspect was later arrested by Police operatives, and the phone of the deceased was also recovered from him.
“The suspect in his confessional statement claimed he killed Adamu when he noticed that he and one Basiru ‘m’ had plans to kidnap and kill him.
“The said Bashiru mentioned is currently at large while effort is being made to find him,” the Police Commissioner said.
