A political platform aimed at promoting effective democracy in Ondo State, Grassroot Democracy Defenders (GDD) has condemned the Ondo State caucus in the House of Representatives over their allegations on the Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
In the previous days, the Members of the House of Representatives representing the 6 federal constituencies in Ondo State had written an open letter to the Nigerian President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR alleging Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for disdaining the erstwhile Governor, Late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON.
The 6 Federal Lawmakers collectively signed the letter on the ground that the Ondo State Governor has failed to give necessary credence to his former boss.
They also argued that the recent appointments by the governor within the state are anti-Akeredolu while those who stood their grounds and loyal to the deceased former governor had been relegated beneath. Using the Deputy Governor as a point of contact, the Federal Lawmakers lamented that those who had enjoyed from Aiyedatiwa are people who remained at loggerheads with late Akeredolu during his lifetime.
They therefore posited that the President should call the Governor into order and refrain him from his one-sided governmental policies.
In a turn of event, the Grand Patron of the Grassroot Democracy Defenders (GDD) and former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Olugbenga Oluboyo had condemned the act of the Ondo caucus in the House of Representatives as a cheap way to seek political relevance and score unavailable political points.
Alhaji Lasisi Olugbenga Oluboyo stated that the allegation is a total misnomer and a negligence of legislative duties on the part of the Federal Lawmakers. He further emphasised that the Federal Lawmakers had derailed from their constitutional legislative assignments to be chasing shadows.
He described the allegation on the governor as a total false with no jot of truth.
According to the former Deputy Governor, he stated that the Ondo State Governor is a leader that is all encompassing. He described Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as a man of soft heart who loves the good people of Ondo State wholeheartedly without any attached condition. On the appointments, he stated that Aiyedatiwa is a lover of hard work, diligence and commitment to service, hence, the appointees are people of sterling records in their various field of careers.
He noted that Aiyedatiwa remains committed in upholding the tenets of good governance in Ondo State and he will leave no stone unturned in achieving this feat.
Also, he noted that it is very clear that the Governor is continuously proving his worth and competence via the payment of salaries and gratuity plus palliatives as at when necessary.
Alhaji Lasisi Olugbenga Oluboyo announced that the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa shall remain unswerving in the delivery of good governance to the people of Ondo State. As a democratic, Aiyedatiwa shall make the government a haven for the good people of Ondo State regardless to economic and social status as well as party affiliations.
Similarly, a Patron of the Grassroot Democracy Defenders and a Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress in Owo and Ose Local Governments, Hon Nuel Ola Elehinle has described the open letter written to Mr President by the Federal Lawmakers in the Green Chamber from Ondo State as an unexpected show of immaturity. He vehemently condemned the act on the ground that rather than joining the governor in ensuring the stability and alleviating the challenges of the people of Ondo, they resolved to peddling falsehood, vilification and calumny against the governor.
According to Hon Nuel Ola Elehinle, the Ondo State Governor is known to all as a man who accords respect and dignity to all and as such, the governor highly revered his former boss, late Arakunrin Odunayo Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON. Just as everyone, the sudden death of Akeredolu met Hon Aiyedatiwa in rude shock. However, God alone is able to determine the journey of mankind here on earth and in the world behind.
Hon Nuel Ola Elehinle thereby affirmed that the Lawmakers’ action is a bid to distract the governor from his good work and cause unnecessary political tension in the State. He said that the Honorables were voted by the electorates in their Constituencies to effectively represent their interests at national levels and not to gallivant around with no aiota of purpose.
According to Nuel Ola Elehinle, the Lawmakers are expected to be busy with legislative matters, sponsoring Bills that would be beneficial to their Constituents and the State at large. He noted that this is not the time to distract or disturb the President on trivial issues that cannot hold waters, as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is setting the pace to cushion the numerous challenges affecting the nation.
He added that the Grassroot Democracy Defenders shall continue to rally their supports for Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on the ground of competence, intelligence and administrative technical – know – how.
He emphasized that Ondo State had a lost a lot in the past months and now that the governor is busy fixing some loopholes and gaining back the losses, it is least expected for some people, Federal Lawmakers as it may be, to now engage in an impish act. Hon Nuel Ola Elehinle stated that it abysmal and totally uncalled for.
The Grassroot Democracy Defenders thereby enjoined the people of Ondo State to continue in their support for the Aiyedatiwa/Adelami administrative and to consider the governor for continuity. As a defender of democracy, GDD noted that the Ondo State caucus in the House of Representatives should desist from actions that are not civil, rather, they should work on how to collaborate with the Ondo State Governor in hoisting the flag of Ondo State high through and regaining the lost glory of the the state that was almost plundered.
