Saka-Olokungboye emerges RUGIPO SSANIP Chairman, vows to defend members


On Thursday, 14th March, 2024, the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo chapter conducted its election to elect new officers for the Union.

In the election conducted by Comrade Bayo Elebute, a Deputy Registrar in the Institution and supervised by Comrade Bankole Ayo, the South West Zonal coordinator and National Vice President of SSANIP, Comrade Saka-Olokungboye Nurudeen, popularly called SO2 defeated two other contestants to emerge as Chairman of the Union for Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo chapter.

In the keenly contested election, Comrade Saka-Olokungboye polled 65 votes to defeat two other contestants who polled 33 and 22 votes respectively.

The newly elected Chairman thanked members of the Union for the confidence reposed in him to have been elected to lead the Union. He promised to sustain the collaborative efforts amongst other sister Unions on campus.

The Chairman-elect said he would continue to work with concerned authorities of the Polytechnic for the interest and betterment of his members.

He said “I have been entrusted with a mandate to lead this great Union and I hope to give all my best in ensuring that our members welfare is taken care off.”

He thanked the elders of the union, electoral Committee, the National Vice President of SSANIP and his newly elected team.

Comrade Saka-Olokungboye implored his team to see their victory as call to service and therefore advised them to roll off their sleeves and get the job started.

I. Comrade Olanitori Olayemi – General Secretary

II. Comrade Akadiri Abiodun – Vice Chairman

III. Comrade Awoyo Olaitan – Treasurer

IV. Comrade Ajayi Racheal- Financial secretary

V. Comrade Bamikiya Monisola – Public Relations officer

VI. Comrade Olakingbe Olumide – Auditor
