…..Promises to Run all inclusive Government.

Ahead of the 2024 gubernatorial election, Mayowa Akinfolarin, a frontline governorship aspirant in Ondo State on Tuesday declared that if elected as the state governor, he will sustain proper funding of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed “Amotekun Corps” as demonstrated by the immediate past governor, late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The former lawmaker noted that such proper funding of Ondo Amotekun and other security agencies would guarantee security of lives and property of the residents, saying he will run an inclusive government that would ensure youths empowerment.
The APC Governorship Hopeful said youths empowerment would also receive top priority from him when he becomes the governor.
Akinfolarin, a two-time member of the House of Representatives made the declaration while addressing APC members and his loyalists at Igbekebo and Irele, headquarters of Ese-Odo and Irele council areas.
The gathering was in continuation of his consultation tour of the state 18 council areas ahead of April 25 APC primary election.
He promised to motivate the appropriate levels of ambition in the youth and women and building egos to help them find their purpose in life.
Akinfolarin, while commending the efforts of the late Governor of the state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for investing in critical infrastructure and capacity building of the youth and the creation of Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed Amotekun, said notwithstanding, much still needed to be done.
His words: “I will ensure the continuity and sustainability of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps. This is because their activities and other security agencies like the Police, Army, NSCDC, DSS and others over the years in protecting the people can’t be over-emphasised.
“Also, If you give me the chance to become the governor of this state, I will operate an all inclusive government that would prioritize youth empowerment and job creation.
“In my government, partnerships between the private sector and the government will be explored for the benefit of all and sundry”, he stressed.
According to him, “We intend to create a loan scheme for business men and women where they will have access to loan without collateral. This, we will do by standing as a guarantor for them.”
The former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly also promised to be accountable, accessible and responsive to the needs of the people for the development of the coastal state.
Besides, Akinfolarin said, “Just like I did when I was in the Ondo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, I will intensify on poverty alleviation programmmes with a specific focus on youth employment and empowerment, because you will agree with me that an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.”
The Chairman of APC in Ese-Odo LG, Mr Okpinmi Decent, while assuring the aspirant of support from party members in the council area, described Mayowa Akinfolarin as “a person I know is the person who believes in equal right”.
His counterpart in Irele, Mr Zachariah Omoge said APC members in the LG are strongly in support of Akinfolarin’s ambition because of his antecedents.
It would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress had on Monday announced April 25, 2024 as the date for the governorship primary and pegged its nomination and expression of interest forms at N50 million, ahead of the November 16, 2024 election in Ondo state.
