The Federal Lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Festus Akingbaso has dismissed insinuation that he is nursing ambition of becoming Deputy Governorship candidate of Ondo State under the People’s Democratic party, PDP, as the 2024 gubernatorial election draws nearer.
This is just as he said that whoever emerges at the April 25 governorship primary of the People’s Democratic party will have his full support in the November 16 Governorship Election in Ondo State.
Speaking at a Youth Summit in his federal constituency on Easter Monday, the Vice Chairman House Committee on Aviation said his loyalty is total to the opposition party in the state.
Fessywest has fondly called, added that People’s Democratic Party is one united family, saying aspirants aspiring to clinch the party’s ticket are brothers who should not see the ticket as do or die affairs.
He urged the National Committee that will conduct the primary to be transparent in their conduct saying the party members are looking forward to a credible, free and fair primary devoid of crisis.
The Federal Lawmaker advised the governorship aspirants to conduct their respective campaign in decent manner without attacking the personality of one another.
”All the aspirants eyeing the party’s ticket are eminently qualified to fly the flag of the party; whoever emerges stand a better chance of returning People’s Democratic Party to Alagbaka Government House comes 2025.
“I have no prefer candidate, the victorious among them becomes Party’s candidate and I will not only support but put resources together for the victory of our party’s candidate ‘.
Answering question on the alleged aspiration to deputize whoever picks the Governorship ticket, Hon Akingbaso clarified that he is not nursing any deputy governorship ambition, saying his vision is to deliver dividend of democracy to the people of Idanre/Ifedore who sent him to the Green Chamber.
His words: ”As of today, my focus is how to deliver dividend of democracy to my Constituency who gave me mandate of four years at the House of Representatives. I have not spent up to a year at the Green Chamber and nursing any ambition outside my current assignment will be a disservice to my people”.
He enjoined the public to ignore any statement and rumour linking him to the deputy governorship contest, noting that he promised to make a difference, both in human and Capital development of his federal Constituency saying what the people are experiencing in less than a year in office is just a tip of the iceberg of his blueprint for Infrastructural and human development.
”During electioneering campaign, I promised my people infrastructure development, empowerment, human development, sponsoring of bills that will have direct impact on the people, all these I have begun to achieved.
”We have embarked on grading of rural roads that link our farm and farm settlement, providing aids and Empowerment, construction of drainages among others. These are just little of what my people should be expecting because they have done their bits by voting for me and it’s my turn to reciprocate”.
He promised to continue to engage the youth of the Constituency with a promise of affecting their lives positively within his capacity and available resources at his disposal.
