Eid-el-Fitr: Edema greets Muslims, tasks them on Ramadan lessons

As Muslims across the world commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, a frontline governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, Olugbenga Edema, has conveyed his warmest wishes to the Muslim community in the state.

Edema, an ex-chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) and former representative of the state on the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), urged residents of the state to reflect on the teachings and values of Ramadan and strive for unity, empathy, and peace in the state.

The governorship aspirant who felicitated the Muslim ummah stated that, “On this joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, I extend my best wishes to our Muslim brothers and sisters. May this festive celebration bring happiness, prosperity, and blessings to all.”

Edema, in his Eid-el-Fitr message issued by his campaign organisation, also took the opportunity to seek prayers for peace and unity in the state ahead of the governorship election.

The former legislator emphasised the significance of Ramadan in promoting self-discipline, compassion, and community spirit, stressing that “the month of Ramadan has taught us valuable lessons of patience, empathy, and solidarity. Let us carry forward these virtues beyond the holy month and work together towards a harmonious and inclusive society.

Edema, who also urged residents of the state irrespective of faith to come together in the spirit of unity and understanding, maintained that “as we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us embrace diversity, respect one another’s beliefs, and foster mutual respect and harmony within our multicultural community.

“Let us continue to support those in need and uphold the values of generosity and compassion.

“As we mark the end of Ramadan with Eid-el-Fitr, let us recommit ourselves to upholding the principles of love, understanding, and unity. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.

“Let us join hands in prayer for our beloved Ondo State as we approach the upcoming elections. May Allah guide us towards a peaceful and fair electoral process, and may unity and understanding prevail among all residents,” Edema stated.
