Ondo Amotekun nabs Kidnappers who macheted fellow kidnapper, as 28 offenders get Aiyedatiwa’s pardon

In the spirit of eld-el-fitri celebration, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has directed the Ondo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps, to pardon twenty-eight suspects with light offences.

The light offences are dangerous driving, destruction of public peace, minor stealing and buying of stolen goods.

The State Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, who announced this while parading forty-five suspected criminals, explained that the governor also ordered that the twenty eight released suspects should be handed over to their next of kins/family members for rehabilitation.

On the remaining suspects who were arrested for kidnapping, the Amotekun commander said they would be made to face the full weight of the law at the conclusion of investigations.

Akogun Adeleye said among those paraded were, kidnappers who matcheted a fellow kidnapper in Akoko area to prevent him from revealing their criminal secret.

According to the Amotekun Commander, the syndicates have confessed to several kidnapping operations in Akoko axis to Kogi and Edo states, while their sponsor is being tracked.

“In the spirit of the festive period, the Governor has directed that 28 of them, having been profiled as first time offenders whose offences are not ones with capital punishment, are to be released to their next of kin for rehabilitation with strict warning not to perpetrated such acts again.

“The remaining will face the full wrath of the law for committing such crimes because we have profiled them. We have a particular case where we were able to break the kidnap syndicate in Akoko LGAs.

“The two kidnap victims are present and the bike the kidnappers were supplied with. In our strive to bring them out, the kidnapper that already confessed was matcheted in several places by his fellow kidnapper who wanted to cover up the crime.

“As of today, we are parading 45 suspected criminals that were picked up in the acts in the 18 LGA. A couple of weeks ago, we reassured the people of their safety this festive period.

“Among the 45 suspects, we have 14 kidnappers, 1 dangerous driving, 5 burglary cases, 2 anti grazing, 4 destruction of public peace, stealing and buying of stolen goods.
