Arrangements are ongoing for the conduct of the governorship primary election of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, in Ondo state today April 20, 2024; SUNSHINETRUTH can report.
Sixteen aspirants are jostling for the party’s ticket ahead of the November 16, 2024 governorship election in the state.
They are, the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Chief Olusola Oke (SAN), Wale Akinterinwa, Isaacs Kekemeke, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Mrs Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, Folakemi Omogoroye, Olusoji Ehinlanwo and Jimi Odimayo
Others are, Prince Diran Iyantan, Mayowa Akinfolarin, Olugbenga Edema, Prof. Adedayo Faduyile, Brigadier-General Felix Ohunyeye,(rtd) Morayo Lebi and Ifeoluwa Oyedele.
Already, the party had opted for a direct primary to pick its standard bearer and the election will hold in all the 203 political wards across the state.
In the meantime, The ruling All Progressives Congress has appointed Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, and former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, to superintend the Ondo governorship primary election slated for Saturday.
Ododo will head the seven-man Primary Election Committee set up to conduct the shadow poll while Omo-Agege will serve as the Secretary.
Other members are a former Oyo Deputy Governor, Iyiola Oladokun; Senator Lekan Mustapha, Adefunmilayo Tejuoso; Margaret Duru and Dr. Sani Danjuma.
The committee has been saddled with the responsibility to conduct a direct primary in all 18 local government areas of the State to pick the party’s flag bearer ahead of the November 2024 governorship election.

They include the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, business mogul and senator representing Ondo South district, Jimoh Ibrahim; Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olusola Oke; former President of Nigerian Medical Association, Prof. Francis Faduyile; mechanical engineer, Dr Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo and APC National Vice Chairman (South West), Isaac Kekemeke.
Others are Dr Soji Ehinlanwo, Akinfolarin Samuel, Okunjimi Odimayo, Adewale Akinterinwa, Olugbenga Edema and Gen. Ohunyeye Olamide, Morayo Lebi, Garvey Oladiran Iyanjan and Ifeoluwa Oyedele.
Speaking with newsmen last night in Akure on their arrival in the state, the Committee Secretary, Senator Omo-Agege, promised that the committee would conduct credible primary election in the state.
The Committee Chairman, Ododo is expected in Ondo State today while other members are already in Akure.
APC APPEAL COMMITTEE
The Primary Election Appeal Committee is headed by former Bauchi Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, while Chief Obiocha Israel serves as Secretary
Other members include Edo lawmaker, Patrick Obahiagbo; Jamilu Isiyiaka Gwamna, and Chief Onyeka Okafor.
