ONDO 2024: OUR STATE WON’T REMAIN CIVIL SERVICE STATE UNDER MY WATCH–GOVERNORSHIP HOPEFUL, AGBOOLA AJAYI
The leading People’s Democratic Party Governoship aspirant towards the November 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo state, Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi has declared his intention to ensure the state sheds it’s tag of a Civil Service State for a more befitting status.
Speaking with newsmen in Akure the state capital ahead of the party’s primary election on Thursday , Ajayi said the last time the state experienced real governance and enjoyed dividends of democracy irrespective of party affiliation, was during a PDP government.
He said, given the opportunity to lead the state from November, he will do everything humanly possible to surpass the achievement of the last PDP government as well as the subsequent ones.
“It’s my intention to do things differently as the governor of our dear state. I have the template of how to move our state away from the era of lip service being witnessed since the past years the APC took over power. I promise to offer real and visible governance”, the former Chairman house of representatives committee on Niger Delta Development Commission said.
“Ondo state is widely refered to as a Civil Service State. That is no longer acceptable to us. With the template I intend to work with, the identity of our dear state will change from a Civil service state to an industrial state”
Ajayi said further that with a focused government that he intends to lead, Agriculture will assume a frontline status, adding that all the social services enjoyed in the state, prior to the APC government which it could not sustain, despite fat federal allocation, would be reintroduced.
“We were witnesses of that era in our state, when, despite a lean purse, students were transported to and from school free of charge, pregnant women delivered free of charge in our hospital and public schools assumed it’s original superior position over private schools.
“I can assure you that with a PDP-led government, better life will be made available again for our state to thrive more and earn it’s enviable position in the committee of states”. Agboola Ajayi added.
