Youths of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in ondo state have congratulated the governorship candidate of the party, honourable Agboola Ajayi, over his victory at the party’s primary election held in Akure on Thursday.
In a statement signed by the head of the party’s youth bureau, honourable Victor Oguntoyinbo and his secretary, honour Adeniyi Oluwadare on Monday, the youths also demanded that the Party nominate a young person, not more than 45 years old, as deputy governorship candidate.
“The success of the free, fair and credible Primary conducted by our Party on the 25th of April, 2024 underscores the entrenchment of high democratic values in our Party. Congratulations to H.E. Hon. Alfred Agboola Ajayi, our flag bearer, the electoral committee headed by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, our six other aspirants and the entire PDP family for a wonderful carnival of democracy” the statement read.
“However, while we celebrate, we will like to use this medium to strongly recommend the choice of a Deputy Governorship candidate below the age of 45 years old.”
“As the Head of the Youth Bureau of the party, coordinating the 18 Local Government Youth Leaders and 3 Senatorial Youth Leaders, we strongly believe that a youthful and dynamic leader will bring a fresh perspective and energy to the party’s campaign. It is essential that we have an innovative leader who understands the needs of our youth and can effectively represent and advocate for them on our ticket. Our younger generation has been very vocal in advocating for their voices to be heard and their needs to be met, and I believe that we need a leader who is best suited to bridge the generational gap and effectively represent both the young and the old.”
“Choosing a Deputy Governorship candidate below 45 years of age will not only revitalize the party but also appeal to a wider audience, especially among the largest percentage of voters as confirmed by INEC. Our Party will again be attractive to undecided youths who would see we are committed to empowering and promoting our younger generation.”
“We implore the Elders Council, State Working Committee, and the Entire Party Structures to carefully consider our recommendation and choose a Deputy Governor below 45 years of age to help lead us to victory in the upcoming elections. Together we can bring about positivity in Ondo State.” It added.
