Senate has waded into EFCC invasion of Akure NightClubs —Adegbonmire

The Senator representing Ondo Central at the National Assembly, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN, has expressed total dismay over raiding of some Nightclubs and lounges in Akure by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

During the raid of the two major night clubs in Akure, the Ondo State capital, EFCC arrested over 50 customers including groom-to-be and his friends during a Bachelor’s Eve.

Speaking with newsmen on the incident, Senator Adegbonmire who described the mode of the raid as inhumane and uncivilised, said “nobody says EFCC officials should not do their work, but it is not acceptable for them to destroy property of lounges, harassed people clubbing lawfully.”

The lawmaker who is the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, said he had reported the case to the appropriate Senate Committee and necessary actions are being taken on the EFCC Akure nightclub raid.

Senator Adegbonmire who noted that immediately he received briefing on the incident which occurred in his constituency, he has been contacting relevant authorities to ensure that victims were not unduly punished.
