A member of House of Representatives representing Ilaje/ Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo state, Hon. Donald Kimikanboh Ojogo has distributed different tools and gadgets aimed at economically empowering about 150 members of his constituency.
The items which included deep freezers, generators, sewing machines and grinding machines were presented to the beneficiaries on Thursday in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje local government of Ondo State.
Presenting the empowerment items to the constituents, at the event, Ojogo said the gesture was to appreciate members of his constituency for their support and improve their socioeconomic activities.
Represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Oyebo Aladetan, Ojogo said, “On my part, despite being a first-timer, what we are witnessing here today is not a show off. I am merely appreciating our constituents by going the extra mile outside my statutory fiscal purview.
“Therefore, the beneficiaries here today should not see themselves as the only ones who did the work; it is a gradual process that will touch all stakeholders. I plead with you not to consider yourselves more privileged and entitled than others.
“Aside today’s modest effort, some of our initiatives so far, include:
Appointment of 5 Statutory and 36 Non Statutory aides, – Financial support for 21 law graduates who were “Called to Bar” in September 2023;
- Federal government-sponsored grants and conditional transfers to 2500 constituent currently ongoing;
- Securing employment slots for constituents into the Nigeria Police (8), Nigeria Army (5), and Nigerian Navy (2);
- Provision and distribution of empowerment tools worth N100m for artisans, won and youths;
- Distribution of rice during the New Year festival
- Free JAMB registration for 220 students
- Construction of wooden walkways, boreholes, and solar street lights ongoing
- Approval for the construction of a concrete jetty, comprehensive health center, wooden walkway. At the appropriate time, the locations will be announced.
“We will continue to attract human capital and infrastructural development to constituency, especially as we enter the second year of our Fresh Path project. part of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency will be left behind in my pursuit of development.

Responding, some of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others appreciated Ojogo for the gesture, describing it as first of it’s kind.
They said the empowerment gadgets would go a long way in changing their lives for better especially during this current economic hardship being faced by Nigerians.
