….as BLITZIK, CSED Donate Sporting Materials to Oyemekun Grammar school

The government and relevant sports stakeholders have been urged to revive school sports competitions, particularly the national football tournaments, to discover new talents.
 
The Director of Blitzik Sports Initiative, Mr. Isaac Afolabi, emphasized this need while donating sports items to Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure.


The donation was a collaboration between Blitzik Sports and the Community Sports and Education Development Initiative (CSED).


 
Mr. Afolabi, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ondo State chapter, and a sports journalist and analyst with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Positive 102.5 FM Akure, reminisced about the excitement of participating in national football tournaments such as the Shell Cup, Principals Cup, and Mobil Track and Field Games.

He called for the revival of these competitions.
 
Speaking virtually about the initiative, the Director of CSED, Mr. Cornelius Ehimiaghe, stated that the gesture aimed to encourage schools to combine sports with education.


 Ehimiaghe dedicated the initiative to his late father, Mr. Israel Menson Ehimiaghe, who was a goalkeeper for Oyemekun Grammar School in the 1950s.


In response, the Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School, Mr. Ogunleye Okeowo, represented by the Vice-Principal, Mr. Yinka Bode, appreciated the donation, stressing that the school would make good use of the items.
 
Additionally, the school’s sports Master and Mistress, Mr. Olayemi Jibola and Mrs. Ademola Adedoyin, commended Blitzik and CSED for the timely donation.
 
Speaking on behalf of the excited students, the school’s football captain, Master Alabi Nicolas, expressed gratitude for the gift and assured its maintenance.
 
The items donated included sets of new jerseys, balls, socks, and training cones.
