120 Students benefit from Scholarship of Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation

120 brilliant and Indigent Students from Nigeria have benefited from the distribution of scholarship materials funded and donated by popular GBENGA FAWEHINMI FOUNDATION.

During the programme, beneficiaries who were selected from Ondo East and Ondo West Local Government Areas of Ondo State as well as Irepodun and Ilorin South Local Government Areas of Kwara State; and Iseyin Local Government Areas of Oyo State, got school bags which contained books, writing and other learning materials that will last them for the forthcoming new academic session and their school fees will be paid by September, 2024.

During the distribution ceremony held at Ondo Grammar School, Ondo, on Thursday 18th July, 2024, the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Mr Olabanji Fawehinmi said the initiative was not just to support the academic journey of the students but also a commitment to nurturing the potential that each of them holds.

The CEO said, “It is a great honor to stand before you today at the distribution of scholarship materials to our 120 scholars of the Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation. This event marks not just the support for your academic journey but also our commitment to nurturing the potential that each of you holds.

“Education is the cornerstone of progress, and we firmly believe that investing in our youth is the most effective way to secure a bright future for our society. Our foundation is dedicated to removing barriers to education and ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder your pursuit of knowledge.

“As we provide these scholarship materials, we are not only giving you tools but also investing in your dreams and aspirations. We are confident that with the right resources, you can achieve excellence and contribute positively to our community and beyond.

“Remember, this support comes with great expectations. We believe in your potential to excel and to become leaders who will drive change and innovation. Use this opportunity wisely, remain dedicated to your studies, and strive for greatness.

“I want to express my heartfelt congratulations to all the scholars. We are proud of you and look forward to seeing the incredible achievements you will undoubtedly accomplish,” said
Olabanji Fawehinmi.

Also in an address, Mr Joshua Aremu, Director of Programs at the Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation, said the 120 bright students were carefully selected on merit.

Aremu said, “It is with immense pride and joy that I stand before you, as we gather to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our scholars and distribute essential educational materials to 120 bright and deserving students.

“This occasion is not only a testament to your hard work and dedication but also a reflection of the commitment the Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation has towards nurturing the future leaders of our society.

“As you receive these items, I want to remind you of the responsibility that comes with being a Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation scholar. You are not only representatives of this foundation but also ambassadors of your families and communities.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Founder, Barr. Gbenga Fawehinmi, donors, supporters, and team members of the Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation. Your unwavering support makes it possible for us to continue our mission of empowering young minds. To our scholars, remember that you are the future, and the future is bright. Work hard, dream big, and never lose sight of your goals,” the Director advised.

Various stakeholders including community leaders, Parents and School administrators at the event, commended Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation for investing hugely in the education sector and ameliorating suffering of the under privileged in the society over the years.

The Principal of St. James Grammar School, Ondo, Dr. Famakinwa said the foundation has demonstrated uncommon support to education of brilliants students which had bridged financial gap in the system.

He urged the students to be committed to their academics.

Other dignitaries at the event, Pastor  Omotayo Olubisi who is the Principal St Joseph College, Ondo and the Representative of Oloja of Owena in Ondo East, described the scholarship initiative as unprecedented, urging parents of the benefitting students to monitor them to become great minds in the nearest future.

The Counsellor of St Monica’s Girls Grammar School, Ondo, Mrs Tongnan-Daze K.O, appreciated Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation and urged parents to monitor their children so that the huge investment will would not be a waste.
