The Transition Chairman of Ifedore local government, Hon. Ajikiola Oluwasogo Clement, has held a peace meeting with stakeholders in the local government at Igbara-Oke on Wednesday 31st July 2024.
The Chairman appreciated all the stakeholders present at the meeting and that it was a directive from the state governor H.E. Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa in respect of the nationwide protest starting from Thur.1st August 2024.
He advised and enjoined all the stakeholders to go back to their respective constituencies to preach peace and that the protest should be averted or violent free.
High Chief Olu Ajayi, a community leader/elder and a PDP stalwart and Alhaji Muyideen Adetiloye who is a Chief Imam in Ifedore, advised that the security agents should be available and at alert so that the protest will not be hijacked by hoodlums and applauded the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the good steps he has taken in the governance of the nation especially granting the local government autonomy.
The Islamic cleric also urged that the planned protest should be discouraged at all levels and refer to it as rebellious.
Mr Omotuyi Olubunmi, the chairman of Okada riders in the local government; Mr Ayodele Ekundayo the youth leader of Isarun and Mr Ibukun the youth leader of Igbara-Oke all advised everyone to stay in their respective homes, towns and villages to avert the breakdown of laws and orders and that the message of peace will be passed across to their members.
Mrs Amure the DSS personnel attached to the local government and the DPO Mr Ganiyu Daodu warned against any act of violence and thuggery in the area and that anyone caught with be dealt with accordingly.
They enjoined that though protest is constitutional but there should be a limit and must be devoid of destruction of lives and properties making reference to the EndSars protest.
Mr Alabi Damilola Sunday the president of Igbaraoke student union, the CAN chairman and the representative of the traditional religion in the local government all agreed with the idea of bringing peace to communities in the local government throughout the week slated for the planned protest and security consciousness in their respective neighborhood.
The Transition Chairman of the local government rounded it up by enjoining all the stakeholders present to go back home and deliver the message to their people that the planned protest should be shunned completely.
