GOV AIYEDATIWA REITERATES COMMITMENT TO IMPLEMENTATION OF ECONOMIC RELIEF POLICIES

  • Gov, at Oka Day Celebration, praises community’s unity, peace

The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has disclosed that his administration will continue to invest in initiatives that will benefit residents, support local businesses, and enhance quality of life.

Governor Aiyedatiwa stated this at the weekend during the 2024 Oka Day Festival, held at the palace of the Olubaka of Oka-Akoko Kingdom, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye.

In his address at the event, the Governor praised the vibrant and historic Oka-Akoko community for its peace, unity and rich cultural heritage.

“Standing before you today, I notice great people that reflect the very fabric of our Sunshine State. I see young and old, from different backgrounds and walks of life, all united in celebration. This is what community is all about – coming together, supporting one another, and lifting each other up.

“As we celebrate today, let us also look to the future. Let us continue to build a community that is inclusive, equitable, and just for all. Let us work together to address the challenges we face and seize the opportunities that lie ahead,” he said.

The Governor commended the organizers and volunteers for their dedication and hard work in making the event a glamorous success.

Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the community’s continued growth and development.

“We shall continue to invest in initiatives that benefit our residents, support local businesses, and enhance our quality of life. Apart from this, we remain committed to our constitutional mandate of providing for the welfare and security of the people of Ondo State,” he added.

Addressing the cutrent economic challenges in the country, Governor Aiyedatiwa reassured residents of ongoing collaboration with the Federal Government to provide relief and improve food security through agricultural initiatives.

Earlier, the Olubaka of Oka-Akoko, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for the various infrastructural projects being implemented in Oka town.

Oba Adeleye specifically praised the Governor for approving the Ayegunle to Iwaro road and rural roads from Ibaka to Afo, noting that these projects will significantly improve the lives of the people of Oka town.

In his opening address, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Alfred Omosola, emphasized that Oka Day aims to promote the image of Oka land. He explained that the festival is an annual event that unites the sons and daughters of Oka land.

Those in attendance included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Commisoner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relation, Prince Boye Ologbese; Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Akogun Olugbenga Omole; Lawmaker representing Akoko Southwest constituency 1 in the State House of Assembly, Raymond Oluwatoyin Daodu; , former Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Dare Emiola, Basorun Seinde Arogbofa, Dr. Felix Ale, Mr. Gbenga Atiba, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, among others.
