Workers under the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Ondo State have commended the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his commitment to implement the new minimum wage of N70,000 as approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for workers in the state.
The State Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip had announced the intention of the Governor to implement the new salary structure when necessary processes have been concluded.
Reacting in an Appreciation letter addressed to the Governor, the State JNC Chairman, Comrade (Prince) Olapade Ademola Adeniji, described the pronouncement by the Head of Service as encouraging and clearly shows that Aiyedatiwa is a workers-friendly Governor.
Ademola who doubles as the Acting Chairman of NLC who was recently elected by the SEC members of the congress, however advised the state government to put in place process of actualizing the implementation of the new minimum wage in Ondo state.
Ademola in the letter which a copy was made available to newsmen in Akure said, “APPRECIATION FOR YOUR COMMITMENT TO IMPLEMENT THE NEW MINIMUM WAGE: The public and the private unions in Ondo State wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to the workers lovely Governor of Ondo State, Honourable Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his recent commitment made to implement the new minimum wage of N70,000 as approved by President Bola Tinubu, for workers in the state through the Number one worker in the Sunshine state, the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip.
“Your unwavering support for the well-being of Ondo State workers reflects your understanding of the challenges faced by workers and recognition of the critical roles the workers are playing in the development and prosperity of our state.
“This commitment will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of countless families, providing them with the financial stability they need to thrive.
“This promise deeply encouraged and put hope in the minds of workers of Ondo State. We believe that under your administration, Ondo State will continue to set an example of progress and fairness.
“We therefore assure you of workers support in your efforts to bring smile to the faces of workers in the State as we do not doubt that Ondo State government will set machinery in motion as soon as the paperwork on New Minimum Wage is released by the Salary and Wages Commission.
