Just In: Ondo Workers boycott NLC directive over Ajaero vs Police

Workers and labour leaders in Ondo state today shunned a directive by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), to hold procession and occupy state police headquarters in support of the Congress President, Comrade Joe Ajaero who had been summons by the police over allegations of treason and terrorism financing.

Our Correspondent who moved round Akure metropolis, observed the NLC State Secretariat at Alagbaka Akure is locked and deserted of labour leaders and workers, while at the State Police Headquarters, normal activities were going amidst tight security.

SUNSHINETRUTH News also gathered that normal activities are going-on today at various government’s offices unhindered.

When contacted on telephone on while workers and labour leaders boycotted the National NLC directive on Ajaero, the Ondo State Acting Chairman of the congress, Comrade Ademola Olapade declined comment, adding that he would call our correspondent back.

Report from Abuja says the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, is already at the police force headquarters to honour the summon by the police over allegations of treason and terrorism financing.

Ahead of today’s visit to the police headquarters in Abuja, the NLC Central Working Committee, on Wednesday, issued a circular, mobilising the union members and affiliate associations for a march on the police head offices across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory and to commence indefinite industrial action if Ajaero is detained by the police.

Fraternal greetings,

This is to inform you that the Congress President returned to the office victoriously from honoring the police invitation.

We appreciate your solidarity and support during this period. May we all remain alert as we gird our loins to continue the struggle for better deals for Nigerian workers and Nigerian people.

Therefore, all members across the states are advised to go back to their respective homes and workplaces.

Regards.

Signed:
Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, mni
General secretary
