Hon. Olawumi Fayemi-Obayelu, member representing Ilaje Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly has strongly frowned at alleged brutal attack on the Ilaje Local Government Chairman, Hon Toyin Ogungbure, by one Banji Orogbemi, an NNPP Chieftain, and others at large.
Reacting to the incident, the lawmaker said that such violence has no place in the society, “and we must all ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”
Fayemi who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, also reiterated that such attack on a female gender was unacceptable.
She noted that such attack as a gender based violence which is punishable under the VAAP laws of Ondo state and the nation at large.
“The Ondo state Gender Based Violence Agency (OSSA-GBV) will also be mobilized as a supervisory agency to monitor the process of persecution and make sure proper justice is served. She declared.
Speaking on the incident, the lawmaker said that “our leaders, appointees, office holders and Elected office holders deserve respect and safety, bullying has no place in our society and we will work towards to prevent future incidents.
“We stand in solidarity with the Chairman and the people of Ilaje Local Government during this challenging time,” She added.
