NNPP chieftain’s Arrest: Mahin Palace blasts wife, Mrs Orogbemi over reckless allegations against Amapetu, Ondo lawmaker, LG boss

PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESS SECRETARY, PALACE OF THE AMAPETU

Subject: Response to Mrs. Stella Orogbemi’s Allegations and Clarification on Mr. Olabanji Orogbemi’s Arrest

We would like to respond to the recent comments made by Mrs. Stella Orogbemi, the wife of Mr. Olabanji Orogbemi, a leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), about the legal actions taken against her husband.

Mrs. Orogbemi’s remarks are misleading and unwarranted. They undermine the credibility of the Ondo State Security Services, the judiciary, and the magistrate court that remanded Mr Olabanji Orogbemi in custody after the legal process. The arrest, detention, and legal proceedings involving Mr. Orogbemi were conducted within the bounds of the law, and Amapetu was not involved in the process. Any attempts to undermine the court’s decision by involving the revered stool of Amapetu are inappropriate and irresponsible.

Princess Hon. Toyin Ogungbure Agbeni, the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, and Princess Hon. Olawunmi Fayemi, a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, are both Princesses of Mahinland and esteemed figures dedicated to the development and representation of the Ilaje nation and Ondo State. Their leadership roles speak to their abilities, commitment, and unwavering service to the people they represent.

It is important to clarify that the Amapetu of Mahin land does not require permission to offer a car for the use of the Chairman of the Ilaje Local Government Council, especially when she is a Princess of Mahin land.

Any attack on Princess Toyin Ogungbure Agbeni seems to be sponsored as retribution from some secretive malicious dissidents, aiming to tarnish the kind gesture of the Amapetu with strange and unpopular traditional blackmail. However, no one is permitted to demonize and portray Mahin culture and tradition as anti-women.

We strongly urge Mrs. Orogbemi and her co-sponsors to refrain from maliciously attacking the revered throne of the Amapetu, as this goes against the traditions and values of our society.

Hon. Fayemi and Hon. Toyin have proven themselves as worthy ambassadors of the Ilaje nation, representing the good people of Ilaje land. Their contributions to the progress of Ilaje land and Ondo State are invaluable.

Let’s honour and respect our women. They are our mothers and wives.

We call on all well-meaning individuals to frown upon any act of abuse or assault on our women and allow the law to take its course. Let’s respect the decisions of the court, as no one is above the law, regardless of their political affiliations or personal beliefs.

Signed,

Prince Tosanwumi Aiyeren
Chief Press Secretary
Palace of the Amapetu
Ode Mahin
Ondo State
