Comrade Musa Samuel, the Ondo State Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, has expressed satisfaction with recent elevation of some senior workers to the position of Permanent Secretary and Tutor-General by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
While reacting to the recent swearing in of some permanent secretaries and tutors-general in the state, Comrade Musa said he was specifically impressed with a promise by Governor Aiyedatiwa that he would continue to give top priority to the welfare of workers.
The new Permanent Secretaries are Mrs Yemi Pirisola, Mr Idowu Ojo, Mr Olaleye Philip and Alhaji Mudashiru Adegbegha, while the Tutors-General are Mr Adebayo Ajimuda, Mrs Owoka Adedamolola and Dr. Akanke Idowu Asogbon.
Swearing-in the newly-appointed Permanent Secretaries and Tutors-General on September 2, 2024 in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa had reiterated his administration’s commitment to the revitalization and efficiency of the State’s public service.
The Governor said “A decision like this which is in the best interest of the State Public Service is anchored on several considerations. First, is the necessity to fill consequential sensitive positions in the rank of the Accounting Officers arising from the exit of officers who have met the requisite statutory requirements for retirement.
“Second, appointment at that level requires that State character must be reasonably served and that is what is being done, gradually. Third, nothing motivates the Bureaucracy more than opportunities for promotion for the operators. That, in no small measure, inspires hope and spurs industry and diligence. Furthermore, the injection of fresh hands holds a lot of promises for the reinvigoration and growth of the system, generally”, the Governor added.
However reacting to the Governor’s speech, Comrade Musa Samuel,
State chairman Association of Senior civil servant of Nigeria, ASCSN, said declaration by the Governor has given workers the hope that the future would be brighter.
“Appreciation to Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for making the workers’ welfare his priority during the swearing in the new permernent secretaries.
“This has given hope to the Ondo State workers that the future is bright. On behalf of all senior civil servants in Ondo State we appreciate Governor Ayedatiwa for this gesture (appointments).
“We, the workers in Ondo State promise that we will never bite the finger that is feeding us. We have no doubt that Mr Governor will not stop giving priority to our welfare,” said Comrade Musa Samuel.
