Dr. Omosehin Adeyemi-Osowe Honored by Primary Health Care Family for Outstanding Leadership and Service

In a prestigious ceremony held in recognition of his exceptional contributions, Dr. Omosehin Adeyemi-Osowe, popularly known as Dr. Kourage, was honoured with an award by the Primary Health Care (PHC) Family in Ondo State.

Dr. Adeyemi-Osowe, the immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ondo State, was celebrated for his visionary leadership, dedication, and pioneering role as the first PHC Family member to hold the office of Chairman of the NMA in Ondo State.

The PHC Family expressed immense pride in Dr. Adeyemi-Osowe’s two-year tenure, highlighting his numerous achievements and the indelible marks he left on the health sector.

His leadership saw the domestication of the approved hazard allowance for health workers, the domestication of the Federal Government’s Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for doctors, and the approval of Grade Level 13 as the entry point for young medical professionals in the state.

Additionally, his advocacy resulted in the approval for the employment of more health workers in Ondo State, among other accomplishments.

During the event, the PHC Family lauded Dr. Adeyemi-Osowe for setting a high benchmark for future NMA executives. His remarkable contributions, they believed, would inspire and guide the medical community in the state for years to come.

Other distinguished individuals were also honored at the event, including Dr. Adeayo Omotehinse, the immediate past Secretary of the NMA, Ondo State; Dr. Ifedayo Buari, the newly sworn-in NMA Vice-Chairman 2; Dr. Babatunde Akinbinu, known as Dr. Tee, the new Public Relations Officer of the NMA, Ondo State, all of whom are key members of the PHC Family.

The ceremony was graced by prominent figures in the medical field and beyond, including Dr. Olusegun Ayodele, Senior Legislative Aide to the Nigerian Senate President and one of the founding fathers of AMOHN, alongside his wife, Dr. Foluke Ayodele, the immediate past President of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Ondo State.

Representing the Special Adviser on Health to the Governor of Ondo State Prof. Simidele Michael Odimayo was his Special Assistant, Dr. D.Z. Gbelela, a past chairman of the NMA, Ondo State, and Immediate Past National Financial Secretary of the NMA.

Other dignitaries included Dr. Niran Ikuomola, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, represented by Dr. Adesoji, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics; Dr. Francis Adegoke Akanbiemu, Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (OSPHCDA), represented by Dr. Victor Adefesoye; and Dr. Olumuyiwa Abel Alonge, the current Chairman of the NMA, Ondo State; Dr Abiona Samuel, Director, Community Health Services and Education, OSPHCDA; Dr Napoleon Ejeheri, a retired Director PHC at Akure South PHC Authority, Ondo State; Dr. Olugbenga Osunmakinwa, the pioneer Executive Secretary of Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Board.

Also in attendance were Deputy Directors from OSPHCDA; PHC Directors across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State; representatives of the LGA PHC Management of Akure South PHC Authority, and friends of Dr. Adeyemi-Osowe from the Dynamic Brothers Family, Akure.

The event was a true celebration of the milestones achieved by Dr. Adeyemi-Osowe and other notable contributors to healthcare in Ondo State.

His leadership legacy continues to inspire the health community as they strive to build on his successes for a stronger, more robust health sector in the state.
