NANNM Ondo State Council Sympathizes with the Osemawe of Ondo and the People of Ondo City Over Recent Flash Floods
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Ondo State Council, under the leadership of Comrade Orobode Felix Akintobi, extends its deepest sympathies to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, Jilo III, the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, and the entire people of Ondo kingdom, particularly those who have been affected by the flash floods currently ravaging parts of the city.
We shared in the grief and distress caused by this sudden disaster, as many families and businesses have been displaced and their properties damaged. However, we sincerely appreciate Almighty God for sparing lives amidst the devastation. While the damage is extensive, the absence of loss of life is a silver lining for which we must remain grateful.
At this critical time, we make an urgent appeal to both the Federal Government and the Ondo State Government for support and financial assistance to those affected.
The impact of this disaster demands a swift and concerted response to ensure that those displaced or suffering damages to their homes and livelihoods receive the necessary aid to recover and rebuild.
Furthermore, as one of the leading Association in the Health sector who believes so much in prevention, we advise all citizens to take preventive measures to mitigate future flooding. It is crucial that we desist from building on water channels and avoid dumping refuse in waterways, as these practices block natural drainage paths and exacerbate flooding risks. Collective responsibility and adherence to environmental laws are essential in reducing the frequency and severity of such disasters.
NANNM Ondo State Council stands with the people of Ondo Kingdom in this time of trial, our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected, and we trust that with the cooperation of the government and the resilience of our people, Ondo Kingdom will recover stronger.
