RE – Ondo: Aiyedatiwa aide kills Ondo youth leader, community decries killing of youth leader.
It has come to the notice of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security matters, Mr. Olugbenga Atiba about a malicious report being circulated alleging that he ordered men of the NSCDC to unlawfully raid the Bature community in Odigbo Local Government Area which led to the alleged killing of their youth leader Faturoti Eric.
In the report, it was alledged that an NSCDC personnel confirmed to the newsmen that the fully armed officers who raided the community attempting to make an unlawful arrest acted on the orders of the Senior Special Assistant on Security to the Ondo State Governor.
A group in a statement by Sekoni, a brother of the Oloja of Leege, claimed that the NSCDC officers opened fire on the unarmed community members, who resisted the unlawful arrest leaving Mr. Faturoti Eric lifeless.
Reacting to the news report, Mr Atiba debunked such allegations which he deemed a lie from the pit of Hell that was fabricated to tarnish the image of the Senior Special Assistant who has always acted based on the tenets of the law since he resumed office.
The S.S.A. to Mr Governor on security matters further added that he was no where near Odigbo community on the said day and he denies ever leading or ordering any team of NSCDC to raid the Bature Community or any other community whatsoever.
According to Mr Atiba
“This report is aimed at throwing the Government in a bad light, because I was not even in Ondo State when the incident was reported to have happened and I never and will never order any officer or officers to raid any community or cause any havoc there”.
“I am not in any capacity to order any raid on any community. My office is primarily for intelligence gathering to safeguard the lives and property of the good people of Ondo State and not to cause mayhem”
He added that “The government of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is a law abiding one and will not encourage any form of shenanigan that will lead to any unwanton killing of law abiding citizens” .
Atiba promised the incident that led to the alleged killing of the youth leader will be thoroughly investigated and ensure that justice is served. He further cautioned members of the community against taking laws into their hands because the government will ensure that those who committed this dastardly act (if truly so) will not go unpunished.
He however added that mainwhile, the government of Lucky Aiyedatiwa is fully aware of those behind these unwarranted lies, who have also been reaching out to the opposition to use it as a tool for political propaganda. He promised that will be unravelled and dealt with accordingly very soon.
