Ondo Senator, Adegbonmire flags Off Multi-million naira Projects at Oyemekun Grammar School

The Senator Representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Sen. Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN has flagged off the construction of multi-million naira projects in Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure.

Speaking at the event, Adegbonmire who was represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon. Akinloye Bolarinde said about four months ago, the Senator came to the school and met with the School’s Principal, Mr. Ogunleye Okeowo where he told him of his intention to turn the school into a world – class secondary school and today it has become a reality.

He disclosed to newsmen that the contractor has the mandate to complete all the projects within six months.

He listed the projects to be executed to include 5000 Multipurpose Hall, 12 Classrooms Block, Construction and Equipment of Science Laboratory and Renovations of Dillapidated Classrooms.

“The idea of this projects is to make the school a conducive environment for students to learn so as to genuinely equipped them to be leaders of tomorrow

“You will recall that some weeks ago, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN embarked on” Back to School Empowerment Programme” where over 100, 000 Exercise Books, Laptops, Magnetic Boards, School Bags and other educational materials were distributed freely to schools and institutions so as to uplift standard of education and to reduce the burden on parents caused by the present economic reality ” he said

Engr. Segun Olatunji, Director Baby’s Banks who is to handle the projects promised that all projects are expected to be completed within six months after the flag off

The principal of the school, Mr. Ogunleye Okeowo who could not hide his joy, thanked the Senator for considering Oyemekun Grammar School Akure as beneficiary of the project out of few selected school in the country.

Okeowo said the school has a challenge of a befitting classrooms and multipurpose hall which has contributed negatively to the development of the school.

“On behalf of the students, management, old students and PTA, I want to sincerely thank Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN for coming to identity with the school with this laudable projects which will help to enhance the learning of our students, we will forever be grateful to him ” Okeowo said.

In his own remarks, Chairman Transition Committee Akure -South LGA, Hon. Gbenga Fasua who is an alumni of the school appreciated Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire for what he did for the school, Akure -South LGA and the State as whole which according to him will remain indelible.

Also, Mrs. Kosemani kolawole, former head of service to the state government who was senior girl of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure 1972- 1973 year for the HNC Programme.

Kosemani, the first female head of service in the state, who is also the coordinator of the women wing of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Alumni said the lofty projects initiated the Senator gladens their hearts.

“We are happy and we say a very big thank you to him.

“He is a proud son of Akure and the whole community is grateful to him for all he has done,” she said
