Ondo 2024: CSOs condemns fake viral video to malign guber candidate

Coalition of All Civil Society Organisations, CSOs in Ondo State has condemned insensate video of a particular gubernatorial candidate (APC candidate, Hon Lucky Aitedatiwa) lookalike being circulated online.

According to the Coalition in a Press statement, this style of maligning others to sway the unsuspecting voters is unacceptable ahead of the November 16, 2024 governorship election.

ONDO 2024: THE NEED TO SHUN FAKE NEWS AND DELIBERATE MIS AND DISINFORMATION

It is important to reiterate the need to play by the rules in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo state. Leadership should come with integrity and honesty.

We condemn the insensate video of a particular gubernatorial candidate’s lookalike being circulated online. This style of maligning others to sway the unsuspecting voters must not be encouraged in our politics. We call on all political actors to embrace decency in a bid to convince the discerning voters of Ondo State.

We cannot have a sane society where progress and development exist when lies and deceits take the center stage.

We implore political parties and their members to shun fake news, tone down on divisive and spurious comments that are capable of setting the people on fire.

We equally call on relevant regulatory and law enforcement agencies to investigate and take appropriate action to address and forestall future occurrence to limit fake news as go into the elections.
