The Honourable Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande, also known as “Ayo Wisdom,” has had an incredible journey. He was elected as the Ondo State APC Youth Leader on October 16, 2021, and exactly two years later, on October 16, 2023, he took the oath of office as the Minister of State for Youth of the Federal Republic of Nigeria .
This remarkable feat showcases his dedication to empowering young people and his rapid rise in Nigeria’s political landscape.
In a matter of days, it will be exactly one year since he was inaugurated by President Tinubu, marking a significant milestone in the journey to revitalize Nigeria’s youth sector.
Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, has been at the forefront of this journey, demonstrating unwavering dedication to empowering Nigerian youth.
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized that the Minister’s primary responsibility is to restore public trust in government, enabling citizens to once again have faith in its institutions.
Without a doubt, he has risen to the challenge, demonstrating unwavering dedication to this mandate. Through his tireless efforts, he has made significant strides in rekindling the public’s confidence in government, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of Nigerian youth.
Without exaggeration, he has broken new ground with his remarkable performance as Minister of State for Youth Development.
With his visionary leadership and collaboration, he has been able to implement innovative programs, fostered strategic partnerships, and demonstrated unwavering commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities.
Notably, he has successfully implemented the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, tailored to revitalizing the youth sector. This agenda has served as a blueprint for his ministry’s initiatives, ensuring a unified approach to empowering Nigerian youth.
Olawande’s achievements include introducing the Youth Development Fund to support young entrepreneurs, implementing the Youth Empowerment Program, training over 10,000 young people in vocational skills, establishing the Youth Mentorship Initiative, pairing young people with experienced professionals, and developing the National Youth Policy, providing a framework for youth development.
He also initiated the “One Youth One Ward” initiative to tackle drug abuse, established the Youth Innovation Hub, hosted the National Youth Conference, rolled out the Youth Volunteer Program, fostered partnerships with private sector organizations, celebrated International Youth Day, unveiled the Youth Health and Wellness Program, set up the Youth Education Support Fund, implemented the Youth Sports Development Program, collaborated with civil society organizations, developed the Youth Digital Literacy Program, introduced the Youth Creative Arts Program, established the Youth Research and Development Fund, and organized the National Youth Awards.
Furthermore, he pioneered the Youth Community Intervention on Drug Abuse (YOCIDA) Initiative to tackle drug abuse across local communities nationwide.
