…..As Governor Promises More Infrastructure In Akure
The Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Friday, paid Royal visit to the Deji and paramount ruler Of Akure kingdom, Oba ((Dr) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi to seek his royal blessing ahead of the November 16th governorship election.
Aiyedatiwa, who is the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the off-cycle governorship election, was at the palace with his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, and top party members led by its chairman, Ade Adetimehin.
Addressing the traditional rulers from Akure South local Government led by the Deji of Akure, Aiyedatiwa promised the people of Akure kingdom to initiate more infrastructural projects especially roads construction across the kingdom, if re-elected.
The governor, who explained that Akure had been a peaceful city, said his government was ready to ensure its beautification to allow the town more attractive being the state capital.
“Akure remains one of the most peaceful state capitals in Nigeria. If any development wants to happen in the state for good, it must start from Akure. We have been doing what you ask for , we will continue to do more. I have not started the government at all.”
While disclosing that his administration will restructure the state budget to suit his plans for the development of the state, Aiyedatiwa asked them to troop out in their large numbers to vote for him come November 16th.
His words:”I am so happy for what I see here. What Obas prophesized last time is the same voice they pronounced today. I am not someone who is not in a position before. I am not here to promise.
“You have seen me and know what I am up to. Since I was a deputy governor, I have been handling issues relating to Obas. The voice of kings is just like God’s voice. That is why I can get the ticket of the party. We have seen a sitting governor who lost the primary election. “
Welcoming the entourage, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, described governor Aiyedatiwa as a man who has long pedigree and respect for the traditional rulers and institutions in the state.
Oba Aladetoyinbo, who is also the chairman of the council of Obas in the state, said Aiyedatiwa had always portrayed the spirit of humility and had been supporting the cause of Akure kingdom and its people for development.
While noting that the governor deserved to be supported in realizing his dream of retaining the governor’s seat, the revered traditional ruler pleaded with Aiyedatiwa to sustain his infrastructural projects especially in the areas of road constructions, provisions of streets solar lights in Akure.
He also urged the governor to ensure the roads leading to the Oba’s market within the state capital are constructed to ease trade and transactions for market men and women in the city.
“The governor is performing well, and he actually needs to be supported for his ambition. Here in Akure, we have been enjoying his support in areas of infrastructure.
“However, we plead that the governor should help us construct the internal roads in Akure and place premium on our market roads and Igbatoro road because that axis leads to Benin in Edo state and it will ease transportation.”
He, however, urged the people to eschew violence and ensure they troop out on the election day to exercise their franchise in the off-cycle without any fear.
