ONDO ASSEMBLY PASSES 2024 SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET INTO LAW ACCOMMODATES 73,000 MINIMUM WAGE FOR WORKERS.
Ondo State House of Assembly has passed year 2024 supplementary budget into law with the total sum of over 96 Billion Naira. It would be recalled that the initial approved budget by the House was over 395 billion Naira for both recurrent and capital expenditure for the services of Ondo State.
This was made known today at the plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House,Rt.Hon(Chief) Olamide Oladiji at the House of Assembly Complex in Akure.
Earlier, the Clerk of the House of Assembly, Barrister.Benjamin Jaiyeola had read the letter from the State Government asking for the passage of the bill.
The House Majority leader, Honourable Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved the motion for the 3rd reading of the bill and seconded by the lawmaker representing Ile Oluji Constituency, Hon. Nelson Akinsunroju .
Presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and appropriation, Hon Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi ,explained that the amended bill was necessary to accommodate the minimum wage for workers as well as tackle the galloping inflations and the Sharp increase in the price of the fuel occasioned by the federal Government Policy on subsidy removal.
After the Speaker had subjected the report to critical debate on the floor of the House and sailing through the third reading,it was unanimously adopted for passage into law through a majority voice votes.
In another vein, the House has passed a bill for a law to provide for the amendment of the Oil Producing Areas Development Commission law and to make provision for the composition of the Commission and for Ancillary Matters.
The motion for its passage into law was moved by the House Majority leader, Honourable Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi and seconded by the Deputy Speaker of the House,Rt.Hon(Prince) Abayomi Akinruntan.
Presenting his report, the Chairman, House Committee on OSOPADEC, Honourable Oluwatoyin Allen,said that the law would create more avenue for the Commission to serve the people in the mandate area better and also address the lacuna identified in the principal law which intends to accommodate the current economic realities.

Also at the plenary,the House Majority leader, Honourable Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved a motion for the passage of a bill for a law to provide for proposed 2024 budget of the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State and was seconded by the Lawmaker representing Akoko North East Constituency,Hon.Oluwatoyin Japheth.
While presenting the report of the Committee on local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Japheth stressed the need for local Government councils to block all identified leakages as much as possible.
The House, however passed the bill into law through a majority voice votes.
The Speaker of the House commended the tireless efforts of the three committees for a Job well done, saying that the 10th Assembly had recorded another milestone in the anals of history having passed three significant bills into law in one day.
Oladiji later Expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for their commitments to quality service delivery and love for the people of Ondo State at all times.
