…..PDP Candidate vows to give new roles to Monarchs.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterdat led the campaign for Chief Agboola Ajayi, the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, promising better days ahead and total liberation for the state.

During the campaign tour, which focused on communities in the Akoko areas, Makinde assured the people that Ajayi would not disappoint them if elected in the November 16 election.

Leaders from the PDP in both Oyo and Ondo states joined the campaign, visiting towns and villages in Akoko North-West and Akoko North-East council areas.

The campaign train also made stops at the palaces of notable traditional rulers, including the Olukare of Ikare Akoko, Oba Akadiri Momoh; the Owa Ale of Ikare Akoko, Oba Adeleke Adegbite-Adedoyin; and the Owa of Ogbagi, Oba Victor Adetona.

During the tour, Governor Makinde emphasized that the PDP candidate would involve traditional rulers in his administration.

He stated, “The victory of the PDP in the forthcoming Governorship poll will be a liberation for the people of the Sunshine State. This is a vote of liberation. Once there is security, everything else will fall into place. Insecurity will be a thing of the past once Ajayi is elected as governor.”

Makinde assured the traditional rulers that Ajayi would prioritize their roles and involvement in governance, stating, “If he wins the election, I assure you that Agboola Ajayi will give traditional rulers a place of pride in his administration. We are behind him and will do everything to ensure victory.”

Ajayi, the former Deputy Governor of the state, echoed Makinde’s sentiments, promising to involve traditional rulers in governance.

He said, “All first-class Obas will be members of the cash allocation committee. They will participate in security and contract verification exercises.”

The candidate urged traditional rulers to advise their subjects against violence and actions that could lead to unrest during the election.

He also cautioned against election rigging, recalling the violence of 1983: “We don’t want a crisis in Ondo State. If they rig in other places, they shouldn’t try it here. My government would empower traditional rulers to assist in tackling security challenges in the Akoko area.”

Ajayi concluded by appealing for peace: “Help talk to our people not to cause trouble before, during, and after the election.”
