Ignore protest against Ondo REC, IPAC tells INEC Chairman, passes Vote of Confidence in her

…says allegation of connivance is false, unsubstantiated 

Ahead of the November 16 governorship election, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has passed a vote of confidence on Ondo State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, declaring that the alleged connivance of the state REC with any political party is false and cannot be substantiated.

The IPAC team led by the State Chairman, Mr. Adesanyan Olaoluwa made this submission while addressing journalists in Akure today at the NUJ Press Centre, noting that the body had carried out a comprehensive investigations on the said matters and found it baseless.

The umbrella body of the registered political parties advised the INEC Chairman, Prof Yakubu Mahmood to ignore allegedly sponsored protesters in Akure and Abuja who were calling for the redeployment of Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola as Ondo REC.

According to Mr Adesanyan, Ondo State IPAC has an absolute confidence in the ability of Mrs Babalola to conduct free, fair and credible election in the forthcoming November 16th 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.

The IPAC chairman thus called on security agents to monitor and call for the arrest of the hired political thugs that may want to disrupt peace in the state before, during and after the governorship election.

“IPAC Ondo State chapter, the umbrella of all political parties hereby unanimously passes votes of confidence on the INEC Ondo State Resident electoral Commissioner Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola to carry out her statutory obligations concerning the forthcoming November 16th 2024 Governorship election in Ondo State.

“IPAC Ondo State Chapter has carried out its comprehensive findings on the said matters and come out with the followings submissions. That IPAC equivocally stated that INEC Ondo State under the watch of the state resident electoral commissioner, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola has carried IPAC along in all the commission’s activities, as regard the forthcoming November 16th 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.

“That the alleged connivance of the state REC with any political party to subvert the coming November 16th 2024 governorship election is false and can not be substantiated whatsoever.

“IPAC Ondo State have absolute confidence in the ability of the state resident electoral commissioner Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola to conduct free, fair and credible election in the forthcoming November 16th 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.

“IPAC Ondo State Chapter hereby call on security agents to monitor and call for arrest hired political thugs that may disrupt peace, before, during and after the governorship election in Ondo State.

“IPAC Ondo State chapter, the umbrella of all political parties hereby unanimously passed votes of confidence on the INEC Ondo State Resident electoral Commissioner Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola to carry out her statutory obligations concerning the forthcoming November 16th 2024 Governorship election in Ondo State,” the IPAC chairman said.
