Commendations as Senator Adegbonmire empowers youths, women with Skills Acquisition Program in Ondo Central

In a significant effort to address unemployment in Nigeria, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN, who represents Ondo Central Senatorial District, has launched a skills acquisition program for youths and women.

This initiative, which took place in Akure, Ondo State’s capital, aimed at equipping participants with essential vocational skills to boost self-employment and economic independence.

The three-day training program, which drew participants from all six local governments within the district, saw 100 fresh graduates trained in ICT and solar panel installation in partnership with the National Agricultural Extension Research Liaison Services (NAERLS), while 70 women received training in palm oil processing in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR).

These skills were chosen to align with market demands, aiming to foster sustainable livelihoods.

Senator Adegbonmire, while inaugurating the workshop, expressed his commitment to creating an environment where constituents can gain economic independence through skill acquisition.

“Our goal is to combat unemployment by empowering people with practical skills to enable self-employment, which will contribute significantly to reducing Nigeria’s unemployment rate,” he stated.

He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training, underscoring that it was only the beginning of many empowerment programs to come.

Engr. Adesina Ayodele of Synergy Impact, the organization conducting the training, applauded Senator Adegbonmire’s dedication to his constituency.

He noted, “This program represents more than just skill-building; it’s a testament to the senator’s long-term vision for community development.” Ayodele emphasized that participants would leave equipped with the knowledge needed for self-sufficiency.

Additionally, Prof. Yusufu Ahmad, Executive Director of NAERLS, represented by Mr. Idris Abubakar, praised the senator’s initiative, affirming the organization’s support to ensure continuous benefits for youths and women across the district.

Participants expressed their gratitude, with many praising the senator for providing a life-changing opportunity. Through this initiative, Senator Adegbonmire has highlighted his commitment to addressing unemployment by enabling constituents to become self-reliant and contribute to the local economy.
