The Ondo State Agricultural Commodity Association (OSACA) has concluded plans to host the 4th Edition of the Ondo State International Agric-Show and Food Fair Akure, (OSIAFFA).
The event will hold on December 4th and 5th, 2024, at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome) along Igbatoro Road, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The event which will focus on a theme; “Food Processing: A Panacea for Food Insecurity”, is poised to highlight the pivotal role of food processing in combating food insecurity and enhancing economic growth.
Addressing a Press Conference in Akure, the Chairman of OSACA, Sir Chief Engr. Fred Abiodun Adejo, explained that “with over 3,000 farmers, leaders, policymakers, and agricultural enthusiasts participating in previous editions, OSIAFFA 2024 promises to be even bigger and better, offering exciting new opportunities for networking, learning, and collaboration.
“The Ondo State Agric-Show and Food Fair Akure (OSIAFFA), organized by OSACA, is a premier platform designed to advance agriculture and food systems.
“OSIAFFA brings together farmers, agribusiness leaders, researchers, policymakers, and investors to collaborate on innovative solutions and market opportunities that can position Ondo State as a leader in food security and agribusiness innovations.”
Abiodun Adejo said, “Exhibitions: This year’s exhibitions will parade a vibrant collection of cutting-edge food processing technologies and innovations. Farmers, agribusinesses, and stakeholders from Ondo State and beyond will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the innovations transforming the agricultural sector, enhancing food security, and improving the efficiency of the food production process.
“Seminars and Workshops: The seminars and workshops at OSIAFFA 2024 will provide an immersive learning experience, with expert-led sessions focusing on food processing techniques, agribusiness funding, sustainable farming practices, and export opportunities. These sessions are designed to empower farmers, agribusiness entrepreneurs, and stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and tools needed to drive success in the agricultural sector.
“Business Networking Opportunities:
OSIAFFA 2024 will feature dedicated business networking opportunities, fostering meaningful connections between local farmers, agribusiness entrepreneurs, investors, financial institutions, and policymakers. One of the unique features of this year’s fair is the Deal Room—an innovative platform that will provide farmers with direct and easy access to credit, as well as lending organizations and partners who can support the growth and expansion of their businesses. This initiative offers a valuable opportunity for our farmers to secure the financial resources needed to scale up their operations and boost productivity.
“Cultural Showcase: This year’s fair will also celebrate Ondo State’s rich agricultural and culinary heritage through a cultural showcase. Traditional dishes, local delicacies, and cultural performances will be featured, highlighting the state’s agricultural diversity and the role of food in preserving cultural identities while promoting sustainable practices in food production in Ondo State and, by extension, Nigeria.
“Award Presentations and Investiture
OSIAFFA 2024 will feature award presentations to honour outstanding individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the agricultural sector, blazing the trail in their respective commodities. Additionally, there will be an investiture of highly distinguished honourees who have shown exceptional dedication and leadership in promoting agricultural development and food security.
