Just In: Ondo Govt resolves salary delay, begins payment of Workers’ N73,000 minimum wage

Workers in Ondo state have started receiving the payment of N73,000 minimum wage with their November 2024 salaries as promised by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

SUNSHINETRUTH News reliably gathered that local government workers have been receiving the November salary while those in core civil service are expected to be receiving salary alert from today.

When contacted, Comrade Ademola Olapade, Acting Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, who also the Head of the Labour side in the minimum wage negotiations with the state government, confirmed that issues causing delay in the payment of the new minimum wage had been resolved.

He said state government would be pushing the new salary structure from today while the council workers have been getting salary alert.

Olapade had told newsmen last weekend that “We are not going to join the strike in Ondo State because, on our side, we have concluded arrangements with the state government.

“The payment was supposed to commence last week but was delayed due to a sliding error, which has been corrected.

“So, by the grace of God, workers in Ondo State, including the Local Government (LG) workers, will start receiving their November salary with the minimum wage,” Olapade said.

He, therefore, reiterated the union’s commitment to ensuring that workers’ welfare continues to be paramount to the union.
