Breaking: Resident Doctors at UNIMEDTHC, Ondo suspend Strike, hail Aiyedatiwa’s timely action

The Chairman, Association of Resident Doctors, UNIMEDTHC Ondo State, Dr Olagbe Kehinde, has announced the suspension of industrial action embarked upon by his members.

The strike was suspended in less than 24hours following the intervention of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

We commend the Ondo State Government for their swift and commendable response to the issues raised by our association following our declared industrial action, the government acted promptly, addressing key demands that led to the suspension of the strike within 24 hours.

We appreciate the proactive and positive approach of the government, led by His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, which underscores commitment to healthcare development in the state.

We also acknowledge the rugged and convincing efforts of the Head of Service, the Special Adviser on Labour, the Special Adviser on Health, NMA with the MDCAN Leadership and the Management of the Teaching Hospital in the expeditious resolution of the contentious issues

We are pleased to affirm that:

  1. Affected members have been paid as of today, Friday, 03/01/2025, ensuring immediate financial relief.
  2. We were part of a productive meeting where the government expressed sincere efforts toward addressing our concerns.
  3. The implementation of the 2024 CONMESS salary structure.
  4. The government has also assured us that the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) and other accoutrements will be paid in 2025..
  5. Electricity was also restored on Monday, 30th December, 2024
  6. Implementation of the Government approved 2025 budget for the Teaching Hospital to improve the infrastructure and equipment needs of the Teaching Hospital to support services and Training.

We remain committed to fostering a collaborative relationship that ensures better service delivery to the people of Ondo State.
