Ondo lawmaker, Hon. Ayebusiwa flags off distribution of food items, cash to widows in Okitipupa

No fewer than fifty widows have benefited from the Widow’s Mite programme, an empowerment initiative of the member of Ondo State House of Assembly who is representing Okitipupa Constituency one, Chris Ayebusiwa.

Last Tuesday, members of Team- Chris, comprising of Hon. Ayebusiwa’s personal aides delivered cash gifts and food items, including bags of (10kg) rice to registered widows in each of the seven constituent political wards in Okitipupa Constituency one.

The Widow’s Mite initiative, which is meant for reaching out mainly to widows in the constituency, is conceived as a bi-annual empowerment scheme for women whose spouses are late.

Hon Chris Ayebusiwa, in his remarks on the programme, said he considers it a privilege to be able to reach out to the widows in his constituency.

“Widows are regarded as special citizens, and for me, they deserve special cares. We may not be able to do much at once but we shall be doing this twice every year during my tenure so that the relief can go round,” Chris Ayebusiwa explained.

In expressing gratitude for the gesture, Mrs Bola Omojuwa, a widow resident at Ilutitun Ward 1, commended Chris Ayebusiwa for remembering the widow’s and prioritizing their welfare, saying: “We are very happy and grateful to Honourable Chris Ayebusiwa for remembering us as widows and looking out for us. May God bless him more and more.”

“Nobody has remembered us before now with this kind of provision and even money. We are truly glad and grateful for this. May the good Lord continues to help and bless Honourable Chris for us.” A widow resident at Iju-Odo/Erekiti Ward, Mrs Comfort Ayenuwa, noted.
