Owo crisis: We’ve restored normalcy, nabbed 19 suspects —Ondo Police

The new Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Mr Olutokunbo Afolabi, has assumed office by confirming the arrests 19 suspects and killing of four persons in Monday’s cult clashes in Owo.

Addressing newsmen in Akure, Afolabi said he had paid on the spot assessment to Owo township to get first hand information on the crisis while full scale investigation had been launched to ascertain real cause of the mayhem.

The new Police Commissioner, pointed out that normalcy had been restored to Owo as he vowed that the curfew imposed on the community by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was compiled with by residents.

OWO CRISIS: CP WILFRED AFOLABI VISITS OWO, CONDUCTS ON-THE-SPOT ASSESSMENT

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State, CP Wilfred Afolabi, paid an unscheduled visit to Owo to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the recent cult-related crisis that claimed four (4) lives.

The Commissioner of Police who just assumed duty, was immediately confronted with the crisis and has pledged to make combating crime and social vices in the state a top priority.

So far, Nineteen (19) suspects have been arrested in connection with the crisis. Investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in the incident.

CP Afolabi has issued a stern warning to miscreants and potential criminals to stay away from the state, emphasizing the command’s resolve to rid Ondo State of all forms of crime and criminality.
