Lola Fagbemi’s Actions Undermine Ward Four APC Consensus”
On the 7th of December, 2024, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward Four, Ondo West Local Government Area, convened and unanimously endorsed Mr. Akinjisola Francis Badejo as the Councillorship candidate for the ward.
After a thorough evaluation of all aspirants, the ward leadership reached a consensus to endorse Mr. Francis. This decision was documented in a formal letter and signed by 20 leaders present at the meeting.
Regrettably, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Lola Fagbemi, overruled the decision of the Ward Four leaders by imposing Mr. Vincent Isaac as the candidate. Mr. Isaac, who served as a two-term Supervisor and a one-term Councillorship flag bearer from 2020 to 2023, was chosen against the collective consensus of the ward leadership.
In light of this development, the leadership of Ward Four, Ondo West, is appealing to the Governor to intervene and call the Commissioner to order to prevent a setback for the party and avoid unnecessary tension within the ward.
It is widely known that the Commissioner imposed her preferred candidate, disregarding the decision made by the party leaders in the ward.
Mr. Akinjisola Francis Badejo, an indigene of Ondo, is a dedicated and loyal party member who has consistently contributed his time and resources to the growth and development of the party both in the ward and in the local government area. His unwavering commitment and significant contributions to the party’s progress are the primary reasons he was unanimously chosen as the consensus candidate by the ward leadership.
We once again urge the Governor, as the leader of the party, to address this issue and ensure that Mrs. Fagbemi respects the decision of the ward leadership to maintain unity and harmony within the party.
