Kidnapping, cult attacks frightening in Ore, Stakeholders write Aiyedatiwa, Ajulo

Concerned residents of Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have expressed concern on the rate at which businesses are being closed down as a result of armed robbery and kidnapping in the commercial centre.

The concerned stakeholders, who preferred anonymity, in an open letter to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state, Kayode Ajulo, SAN, lamented that a matter bothering on kidnapping and robbery incidents that took place in the town some years ago is still pending in Ore High Court sitting in Ondo town.

Calling on the Attorney General to use his office to ensure the matter, with other related cases, is given speedy hearing so that justice could be served, the writers of the open letter disclosed that some owners of filling stations have sold off their business sites and left Ore to avoid being kidnapped or robbed.

They expressed fear that slow hearing of the matter would further hamper investments in the commercial nerve of Ondo Southern Senatorial district.

The letter reads: “We, the concerned stakeholders of Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local, are hereby seeking true justice over the case of kidnaping of innocent persons particularly wealthy people within Ore community.

“Due to constant kidnapping, many filling station owners, the like of K. K Komos, Farbas, Adebless, have sold their properties and left Ore to save their lives.

“Many victims have not recuperated from the emotional trauma kidnappers, robbers and rapists have caused them till date.

“We don’t want further calamity to befall us in Ore community.

“Despite the arrest and arraignment of a suspect at the Ore High court sitting in Ondo, the case has been constantly adjourned, without any hearing on the matter in court, we are tired of going to court on every adjournment date without any action taken.

“We are calling on the State Government, through the Attorney General of the state to wade in and ensure justice prevailed on the matter, because we are no longer safe in Ore community.”
