To ensure that many young Nigerians can pursue their dreams without the financial burden that often hinders academic success, the Senator Representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Sen. Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN has decided to support students with exceptional potential but limited financial resources.
This initiative was not just about financial support but creating opportunities for next generation to excel and make meaningful contributions to the society.
Senator. Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN is a firm believer that education is the bedrock of a nation and that an educated nation is a developed nation.
Therefore, he wouldn’t relent in his efforts in assisting Nigerians in their quest to get good education.
One of such is the story of Elizabeth Ogunmodede who is on university scholarship under the tutelage of distinguished Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN to study Law at Joseph Ayo Babalola University(JABU) Ikeji Arakeji Osun State.
This singular example is not the first in the series of Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire philanthropic gesture.
Over the years, he has quietly and consistently supported numerous students in their quest for academics excellence.
Elizabeth Ogunmodede, a native of Akure was born in the year 2007 to the family of Mr and Mrs. O. R Ogunmodede. She started and completed her secondary school education at C. A. C Grammar School Akure in the year 2023 graduating with flying colours.
Elizabeth Ogunmodede scholarship education worth over #2 million per session and senator has promised to pay all through the duration of her course at JABU and to the Nigerian Law School .
Elizabeth Academic Strides :
As a senior prefect girl during her set at C. A. C Grammar School Akure, she rose to national prominence in the year 2021 when she won the Ondo State Spelling Bee Competition.
Elizabeth Ogunmodede discovered her gift of writing from primary one and before age 10, she has become a voracious reader, writer and author
” My dad bought me a lot of books and encyclopedia and i read all including three of Wole Soyinka works before age 10″ she said.
Before completing her secondary school education in the year 2023, she had written six books, five of which were published in the United States of America and one in Nigeria to her credit.
The books are:
- Tremendous Words, poems from an African teen.
- The Beauty of Words, a collection of poems.
- Ladder to the Top, a book of prose and poetry for young adults.
- Ladder to the Top, a book of prose for young adults.
- I Love To Go To School, a collection of poems for children.
- Lessons from Grandma, a collection of short stories.
She is presently working on the seventh book.
Elizabeth Ogunmodede attributed her success to three things: The grace of God, hard work and support from her parents.
Her Dream:
Elizabeth Ogunmodede has been mentoring other young children and she dreamt of being a role model to young Nigerians and Africans so as to have more products of her like- mind in the society.
To be one of the best, if not the greatest and youngest Nigerian writer in the international scene.
She dreamt of fighting for human rights and the oppressed in the day and the night to let her imagination comes to light through writing.
Elizabeth Ogunmodede grew up loving God and serving him from her tender age .
When she was asked how she met the senator
“I went to church program one day to promote my books and he was also there, that was how i met him.
The scholarship opportunity given to me by the senator was the least of my expectations.
After the scholarship opportunity, my parents and I have tried to meet in person to appreciate him but he always consider it not necessary
Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire is an amazing soul, and my family and I are sincerely grateful to him ” she said
This Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire’s commitment to nurturing intellectual potential can be described as second to none and a clarion call to other well- meaning Nigerians to invest in the intellectual development of the younger generation.
