The Ondo State Contributory Health Commission in collaboration with the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency in partnership with Clinton Health Access Initiatives is set to commence phase three enrollment of Clinton Health Access Initiatives vulnerable population, targeting 18,000 vulnerable persons.
This was revealed during a planning meeting for the phase three enrollment with participants across 9 local government areas of the State.
The meeting held at Bon hotel, Akure, the State Capital had in attendance participants including health workers, State Mobilization Officers from Okitipupa, Odigbo, Ondo West, Akure North, Ifedore, Akoko North East, Akoko South West, Ile Oluji/Oke Igbo, Owo.
Speaking at the meeting, the Director General of Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, (ODCHC), Dr. Abiodun Oyeneyin noted that Governor Aiyedatiwa is commited to the well being of the people of the State, as encapsulated in his core development agenda “Our Ease”, efficient healthcare and socio-economic welfare.
Oyeneyin said, “we have done the first enrollment, the second enrollment, currently we have 12,000 enrolled. Now we are adding additional 18,000 to it, to make sure that there’s additional 10,000.
“So at the end of the day, we have 30,000 pregnant women and children under five across nine local governments that will be enrolled, and they will not pay a dime for all the covered services.
“And here we are having a training meeting on how we’ll go about the enrollment to ensure that it’s going to be a seamless process”.
Oyeneyin urged the participants to step up their game and ensure that the aim and objectives of the program is achieved.
In her goodwill message, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, at the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Yetunde Olagbuji commended the health workers for providing quality services in their various health facilities.
She added that the government is passionate about qualitative health care of the people, irrespective of their economic capacity through the ODCHC.
The Clinton Health Access Initiatives (CHAI) State Coordinator, Mr Olamide Ayedun Stated that CHAI is taking place in 6 States in Nigeria, stressing that a total of 68 health facilities will cover the programme in the nine local government areas in Ondo State.
According to him, CHAI’s objectives is to Increase coverage of state health Insurance scheme to formal and informal sectors for gender responsive SRMNCH services for vulnerable populations, Increase access to gender responsive SRMNCH services for the most vulnerable populations in target states, Improve enabling policy environment for gender responsive SRMNCH services for the most vulnerable populations.
“We’re spreading the 20,000 enrollees across the 103 health facilities in the participating 9 local government areas, targeting pregnant women and children under five”.
While soliciting for more support from the health care providers, he noted that the program will end in November.
The Project Manager, Basic Health Care Provision Program, Mr Feyijimi Egunjobi noted that the enrollment plan and the process of the phase 3 will involve town announcers, Officers in charge of each primary health care facilities in the participating 9 local governments areas.
He urged the health workers not to falsify any enrollee, as there would be data validation and physical enrolment of the beneficiaries.
