Just In: Anxiety as Kidnappers strike near Akure Airport, demand N15m ransom for victims

There is currently anxiety among residents of the people leaving and using Akure Airport as Unknown gunmen have kidnapped three students working as IT farmer and a labourer at Oke Oge in the Oba Ile area of Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The victims who are industrial Training, IT, students in a farm were abducted on Saturday evening while returning from a farm not far from Akure Airport.

The state commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the incident.

He said his men had been deployed to rescue the victims.

Adeleye stated, “I can confirm to you that we are on top of the situation.

“They were kidnapped while returning from the farm.

“Our men have been deployed to rescue them from the kidnappers’ den.”

When also contacted, the Ondo State police command’s spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami who confirmed the incident, said anti-kidnapping operatives had been deployed to the scene.

Meanwhile, the abductors are demanding a ransom of N15 million from the victims’ families.

A family source confirmed that the kidnappers had contacted the families.

It was reliably gathered that the Nigeria Police and other security agencies operating in Ondo State do not have modern equipment to fight kidnapping in the state.

The latest waves of kidnapping raise the question of the need for the Ondo State Government to assist in providing security equipment.
