Akure North Plea for Action: Hon. Kolawole Ologede, Will You Rise to the Occasion?
It is so sad that when voices of the people should resonate through the hallowed chambers of the Ondo State House of Assembly, we find ourselves faced with a troubling silence. The people of Akure North, who placed their trust in Hon. Kolawole Ologede to represent them, now look around and wonder: where is our representation? Where is the leadership that should be championing our interests?
A legislator’s duty is not just to occupy a seat but to advocate for the people who sent him there. Across the state, we witness proactive lawmakers distributing scholarships, providing JAMB forms for students, facilitating projects including empowerment programs, rehabilitation of schools, fixing of roads, installing solar streetlights, and launching community development projects.
But in Akure North, there is nothing to show for our representation. Hon. Kolawole Ologede, our representative from Eleyewo, has done little to justify the trust placed in him.
One might argue that as a legislator, his primary responsibility lies in making and amending laws. Yet, even in this fundamental duty, there is a glaring void. Hon. Kolawole Ologede has not sponsored a single bill. Not one. The weight of legislative responsibility demands more than presence—it demands action, vision, and commitment. What then should the people of Akure North hold on to when their representative has remained conspicuously absent from meaningful governance?
Disappointment alone will not suffice as a response. As young people, we cannot afford to remain silent while our constituency stagnates. The very fabric of our future is at stake. We cannot watch helplessly as four years slip by, wasted by ineffective leadership. Our plea is not one of hostility but one of urgency. This is not about political witch-hunting; it is a clarion call for change, a demand for action, and a desperate appeal for responsible governance.
Hon. Kolawole Ologede, we are giving you one month to turn things around. The time for excuses has passed. We want to see tangible development, we want to see impactful legislation, and we want to feel the presence of our representative in our daily lives.
Should this appeal go unheard, we will be left with no choice but to initiate the process of recalling you from office. A representative who does not serve the people has no business remaining in power.
We call on our elders, community leaders, and concerned citizens to stand with us in this struggle. The future of Akure North depends on it. We must speak truth to power, not out of malice, but out of necessity. Our constituency cannot afford another lost tenure; the time to act is now.
Hon. Ologede, do not let history remember you as the legislator who did nothing. Prove to us that you are worthy of the mandate you hold. Let us see you act, let us see progress, and let us restore faith in the leadership of Akure North.
