117 bag First Class at Federal University, Oye-Ekiti

….As Vice Chancellor rolls out Achievements ahead of 9th Convocation.

117 graduates have bagged First Class grade, even as the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Oye Ekiti, FUOYE, Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards strengthening academic experience of the students and global positioning of the institution.

Prof. Fasina made this known during the Press Conference to mark the 9th Convocation Ceremony of the institution which is set to run from 17th to 23rd February,2025.

While addressing Newsmen, Prof. Fasina stated the school is set to graduate 8444 students with 117 First Class, 3,466 Second Class Upper, 3,715 Second Class Lower, 831 Third Class, 2 Pass, 38 Ph.D, 211 MSc/MBA and 4 PGD.

This, he said is a giant stride for the institution as it is a combination of hard work and perseverance of the students.

Applauding the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND programme of the Federal Government, Prof. Fasina disclosed that the programme has made it possible for students to obtain loan for their educational needs.

He disclosed that 3,281 students of the institution have hugely benefited of the programme.

Prof. Fasina also commended the President for the TETFund Project which he said has impacted the institution greatly in terms of infrastructure.

Prof. Fasina emphasized the institutions readiness to explore necessary avenues that will enable them provide students with quality academic experience that will make them highly competitive in the labour market.

He said, “as we celebrate this achievement, I want to emphasize that this is just the beginning of FUOYE. FUOYE is poised for even greater success in this coming year”.

“We are committed to deepening our research impact, expanding our infrastructure and providing our students with the best possible academic experience.

“We will continue to invest in cutting edge technology research, foster international partnership and ensure that our graduates are equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow”.

The Vice Chancellor further added that the Convocation Ceremony will feature the award of distinguished individuals; Chief Kanu Agabi,Former attorney General of the Federation, Chief Adebayo Ojo, Former Minister for justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Alebiosu Segun, MD First bank and Chairman Air Peace Airline, Dr. Allen Onyema

Highlighting other activities for the University’s 9th Convocation Ceremony, Prof. Abayomi Fasina noted that Monday, 17th will feature the commissioning of projects which includes; 1000 seater auditorium, the Fasina Conference center, 3 in 1 Science Laboratory, New CBT center, Faculty of Law and Education building after the press conference.

Tuesday,18th will host Free health care services at the palace of Oloye of Oye Ekiti by 11am. Wednesday,19th will also feature same free health care services at the palace of Elekole of Ikole Ekiti by 11am and commissioning of projects at Ikole Campus as well as induction of engineering students at the faculty of engineering hall.

Thursday, 20th will feature the Vice Chancellor’s Staff Awards of Excellence and Personality Meritorious Awards, Edutainment programme featuring the likes of Tope Alabi, Femi Adebayo and the Launch of Endowment Fund raising at the Faculty of Science Lecture theater.

Friday, 21st will present the award of Bachelor and Diploma degrees for students of the Faculty of Art, Agriculture, Engineering, Management Sciences and Social Sciences at the 1000 seater auditorium. They will also be Jumat service by 1pm same day.

Saturday 22nd will feature Convocation Lecture that will be delivered by the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny S.T. Echono and award of Bachelor and Diploma degrees to students from the faculty of education as well as Postgraduate awards.

While, Sunday will be for Thanksgiving Service which marks the end of the Convocation Ceremony.
