
It was a tragic scene on Sunday night as a mother and her two children lost their lives in a devastating fire in Ondo town, Ondo state.
The incident occurred at Rainbow Street, Lipakala Junction, near Adeyemi Road, in Ondo West Local Government Area.
A family member, who wished to remain anonymous, shared with journalists that the victims were burnt beyond recognition in the fire, which lasted for several hours.
The fire destroyed the entire building where they were located.
Despite neighbors’ attempts to rescue them, the local Fire Service was unable to respond effectively.
According to the family source, when they contacted the fire service, they were told there were no available water or chemicals, and the officer on duty abruptly turned off his phone.
The police public relations officer in Ondo, CSP Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims’ bodies have been taken to the morgue.
Reacting, the chief fire officer of Ondo State, Bimbola Araroba said he could not confirm the details of the fire, adding that only the officer stationed in the area could provide confirmation.
