Contestant ‘Cashio’ rejects outcome of AAUA SUG Election, alleges Rigging

One of the Contestants in the Just conducted presidential  election of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Elijah Segun aka ‘Cashio’, has rejected the outcome of the election, alleging widespread irregularities in the electronics voting.

Four candidates contested the SUG Presidential election, but Akeem Salami Ologbon was declared the winner.

Reacting to the outcome of the poll that was held on Friday 28th February, 2025, Elijah Segun claimed that the server used for the election was frequently down during the exercise and lamented that his Campaign Chairman was unjustly arrested for more than 7hours by the Electoral Committee.

Elijah said “I want online voting in Adekunle Ajasin University SUG election should be cancelled because it’s not reliable and the authorities  should see to the just concluded election in AAUA, that the whole processes were fraud.

It harden my heart to come on social media and our white linen. The whole process is faulty e.g During the election, the University generator went off for more than 30 minutes. Anytime there was shut down in the server, his (the declared winner) votes will go up by like 50%.

“A process where more than 30 students couldn’t vote at a time or else the server will be down. How do you expect a University that can’t manage the University online clearance, the school fees payment portal to manage the student union election server.

“If an Individual can penetrate the university sensitive server, why won’t they do the same thing for students union election online platform.

“I am not saying that 100% I’m the winner but if I want to loose, I would rather lose on a platform of Free, Fair, credible and transparent election.

The last time we had credible election was during papers balloting system.  Then the fundamental question that’s currently seeking for an answer is that why did my dear University were adamant in using online voting as against paper balloting.

“I stand today to be the Voice of many that have been a victim of this bad process because the hottest place in hell fire I reserved for those who keep mute in the face of the oppression.

“Another thing is that my campaign chairperson was arrested for no reason by the electoral committee members. My agent was sent out of the election room (CBT center) for some hours because I was looking for her after we noticed the fraudulent act by the server managers,” Elijah lamented.

He called for a fresh electoral process that would not experience shutting down of online platform.

Reacting in an interview with our reporter, Akeem Ologbon described the electoral process as free and fair, promising to carry everybody along in delivering on his campaign promises.
