National Economic Council lauds Ondo govt/Private Sector partnership on Job Creation, Investment Drive

The National Economic Council Monitoring Team has lauded Ondo State government’s efforts in fostering job creation and economic growth through strategic partnerships with the private sector.

Leader of the three-man inspection team to the South west, Professor Musibau Adedeji highlighted the state’s proactive steps in attracting investment and boosting value addition across various sectors.

According to Professor Adedeji, Ondo State is making significant strides in creating a conducive environment for investors to thrive, resulting in increased employment opportunities and a broader economic base.

“The state is collaborating with the private sector in terms of creating jobs, adding value, and ensuring a multiplier effect for the state’s economy. This includes employment generation, economic expansion, and foreign exchange earnings,” he said.

The visit is in line with the decision of the National Economic Council to monitor the implementation of its resolutions at the sub-national level with the objectives of evaluating the impact of various development programmes embarked upon by governments at the sub-national level and identify challenges that require the intervention of the federal government.

“We are here to assess the impact of the programmes we have seen and the challenges they are facing. This is to enable the Federal Government address those challenges and create room for further expansion,” Professor Adedeji noted.

The team had earlier visited Ogun, Osun, Lagos, Oyo, and Ekiti States, with the goal of promoting regional cooperation rather than competition.

“We want each state to complement and learn from one another by observing what is being done differently. This includes collaboration in providing raw materials, intermediate inputs, and supporting final output,” he added.

The assessment team emphasized the importance of inter-state cooperation and collaboration in strengthening the region’s industrial base and advancing inclusive economic development.
