ICPC partners Ondo anti-graft agency ‘SPFACC’ for stronger war against Corruption in Ondo

The Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes, and Anti-Corruption Commission (SPFACC) has started putting in place strategies to have a strong partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in the fight against corruption and financial crimes in the state.

This information emerged in Akure when the management of the Ondo state anti-graft agency paid working visit to the ICPC headship in Akure office.

The two commissions identified areas of immediate synergy, including: Sharing expertise and best practices in anti-corruption efforts. Building capacity for effective anti-corruption investigations and enforcement. Collaborative investigation efforts to tackle corruption cases. Strategic deployment of resources to support anti-corruption initiatives.

The Chairman of SPFACC, Retired Justice William Akintoroye, expressed heartfelt happiness that the anti-graft war is gaining strong impetus due to the collaboration.

Akintoroye said, “the partnership between SPFACC and ICPC will enhance the fight against corruption in Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole. By working together, the two commissions will enhance existing anti-corruption frameworks and strategies, develop new strategies to tackle emerging corruption challenges and foster transparency, accountability, and good governance in the state.”

The SPFACC team led by its Chairman Retired Justice William Akintoroye, includes Prof Adeyeye Adewole, Secretary to the Commission; Mr John Atakititi, Director of Administration; and Mr Adewale Okunneye, Director of Accounts.

The Commission plans to host the 1st Ever Conference/Inaugural Meeting of All States Anti-Corruption Agencies, a major boost to governance and anti-corruption efforts in the state under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The Ondo State Public Complaints Financial Crimes and Anti Corruption Commission has established strong collaboration with ICPC based on the similarities of their mandates which are intensive fights against corruption and corrupt tendencies.

While welcoming the SPFACC team, the Ondo State ICPC Resident Anti- Corruption Commissioner, Mr. Tiku Andrew Menge underscores the willingness of ICPC to work with SPFACC across critical areas such as enforcement, Anti-corruption prevention and sensitization.

Responding, the Chairman Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti Corruption Commission (Rtd) Justice Williams Akintoroye presents areas of immediate synergy. These include knowledge sharing, capacity building, investigation and resource deployment.

The Chairman expresses heartfelt happiness that the anti graft war is being given strong impetus as a result of the collaboration. The SPFACC team that accompanied the Chairman include Prof Adeyeye Adewole, the Secretary to the Commission; Mr John Atakititi, Director of Administration and Mr Adewale Okunneye Director of Accounts.

Responding after the collaborative meeting, the Secretary to SPFACC, Prof Adeyeye Adewole, reiterated that the present collaboration is coming after a similar one with EFCC where both agencies pledged to work together.

Adeyeye also stated that in no distant time, SPFACC will be hosting 1st Ever Conference/ Inaugural Meeting of All States Anti Corruption Agencies which is a major boost to Governance and Anti Corruption Profile of His Excellency Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa
